Growing up as a swimmer in Marin County, California, Roxy spent a lot of time in the pool and the gym weight training. Although swimming was her focus, she had an eye for exploration at a young age. Her first yoga class was in elementary school.
In 2010, Roxy started college at Syracuse University and experienced what happens to many at the start change. Bad habits emerged and physical activity became a stranger. Throughout college, Roxy played with different fad diets and a variety of different workout programs but nothing stuck.
In her final year of school, with the encouragement of a good friend, Roxy decided to try yoga one more time. This time was different. It stuck. Bringing yoga into her daily routine helped Roxy get back on track with her weight and cardio training, and, most importantly, her overall well-being. The combination of activities helped alleviate anxiety and stress that she had been feeling.
Through yoga and fitness, Roxy found her internal strength and a sense of balance that she wanted to be with her always.
In 2014, Roxy relocated to Boston for her Masters Degree. She continued her yoga practice and regularly met with a personal trainer to keep her fitness goals on track. She created a lifestyle built around strength and balance.
Roxy realized that she wanted to share the impact that yoga and fitness had on her life in 2016. She completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training under the instruction of Natasha Rizopoulos and Kate Heffernan and became a hands-on yoga assistant under the training of Einat Peled-Katz.
Wanting to find a way to integrate her passion for yoga and strength training, in 2017, Roxy received her Personal Trainer Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Roxy has taught and assisted regularly scheduled classes at Boston Sports Clubs, Power For Life Fitness, Down Under School of Yoga and The Home for Little Wanderers.
Her goals are to make yoga and fitness accessible and to help you feel empowered, centered, and strong through strength and balance training. Click here to read Roxy’s mission.
"Like many people with questionable (read: non-existent) fitness habits, I started off 2018 by buying a gym membership. I had some idea of how to use the treadmill and the bike, but anything beyond cardio equipment was a little intimidating. One of the gym managers suggested personal training, so I signed up for a few sessions with Roxy Hesh. Roxy is the best trainer a beginner like me could ask for – patient, thorough, and supportive of my fitness goals. She always managed to strike the perfect balance between pushing me to work harder, and easing off to keep me from over-exerting myself. Our workouts were always planned in advance, and she even sent me the workouts afterwards so I don’t forget what we did. I highly recommend Roxy to anyone who is new to fitness and is looking for guidance!" - Sergey T., 3/4/2018
"I’ve been to Roxy’s yoga classes, and have also had personal training sessions with her. She is amazing to work with, very attentive in both a solo and group setting, and adjusts her workouts as needed to fit a person’s need. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!" -Amanda T. , 2/23/2018
"I just had my first training with Roxy Hesh at the Gov center location and she was extremely helpful. She helped me put together a routine and showed me a plethora of different workouts I can do throughout the week. I never felt overwhelmed and came out feeling more confident." - Jackie D., 1/23/2018
